WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — If you are in the market for a new job, we may have just the thing for you. Purdue University Physical Facilities is hosting a job fair Wednesday.

Purdue Maintenance General Manager Mark Wilson stopped by News 18 at Noon on Tuesday to tell us about the job fair and the workshops being offered.

“We have 20 positions available at Physical Facilities ranging from custodial to maintenance, skilled trades and grounds,” Wilson said. “… We have supervisors on hand [who] will be able to talk to you specifically about the jobs that we have.”

But the event is more than just an ordinary job fair, it will offer useful information for those seeking employment.

“We’ll have HR representatives there to help you,” Wilson said. “If you don’t have a resume, they’ll help you build that resume, get that into our system for hiring; and also talk to you about interview tips and things you can do to improve your chances.”

People wanting to apply can do so on the spot. The timeline to hear back varies based on each available position.

“Some positions will be conducting kind of mini-interviews at that point,” said Wilson.

He said if other positions are desired but not immediately available, they will still take people’s information and contact them directly once spots open up.

“We found some people [who] just don’t understand our hiring process and it helps us reach out to those folks and get some very skilled and quality people in there [who] may not otherwise be able to get there,” Wilson said.

The Purdue Physical Facilities Job Fair takes place Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Physical Facilities Service Building, 775 Ahlers Drive, in West Lafayette.
