WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The West Lafayette Jr.-Sr. High School had early dismissal Wednesday after the air conditioning went out.
West Lafayette Community Schools Corporation Superintendent Rocky Killion said the second and third floors of the building overheated from a broken chiller.
He said the plan is to replace the chiller in November, but a maintenance crew is working to fix the chiller until it’s replaced.
“Fortunately, it’s been cooler at night, so we open up all of the air handlers, let all of that cool, fresh air in,” said Killion. “So, it gives our building a little bit of a head start to be cooled in the morning, even though the air conditioning isn’t working.”
Killion said there will be another early dismissal Thursday starting at 1 p.m. He said he is confident the problem will be fixed by Friday.
