LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) — A well-known Logansport hardware store has gone out of business.

Arone Hardware officially closed its doors at 5 p.m. Friday.

The hardware store itself has been serving the community since 1949.

Pat and Joe Arone took over the business in 1975.

The store was put up for sale two years ago, but the owners still have yet to find a buyer.

Manager Jim Michael said he is sad to see it go, but it’s time to move on.

“We’re gonna miss all our customers and we appreciate your business over the years,” said Arone. “I know it’s a sad day for all of us and I know some of the customers have really been sad about it.”

Michael said a lawn mower shop auction will be held on Oct. 16.

A store auction will take place Oct. 20-22.
