FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) – A historical fountain in Frankfort will soon be relocated to a new home.

The Jonson fountain was designed and sculpted by local artist Jon Magnes Jonson back in the 1920s.

When originally built, it was intended to be placed in front of the Old Stoney building downtown.

For safety reasons, it was placed in TPA Park and has remained there for more than eight decades.

Thanks to donations from individuals and the Clinton County Community Foundation the fountain will be relocated to Old Stoney.

“We think we have enough funds now. The contractor has been determined to do the relocation, and he anticipates sometime between now and Thanksgiving it’ll be moved to Old Stoney — where Mr. Jonson originally wanted it,” said Jim Sigfried, president of the Old Stoney Corporation.

The total cost to move the fountain will be around $28,000.
