“According to the American Institute of Cancer Research, one in three of all cancers could be prevented with some kind of lifestyle modification,” began McQueen. “That includes diet, maintaining a healthy weight, and physical activity or getting more exercise.”

McQueen recommended maintaining a plant-based diet and eating fruits, vegetables and whole grains to help prevent cancer.

Proper nutrition during treatment is also crucial because some treatments can drain the body of vital nutrients.

“The vital or plant-based chemicals that are in things like leafy greens and berries really provide a protection and help the body heal and maintain through treatment.

McQueen finished by saying the American Institute of Cancer Research has a great website full of recipes to help you lead a healthier lifestyle.
