BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) – The owner of an abandoned hotel in Tippecanoe County now has 60 days to demolish it.
The hotel at State Road 43 and Interstate 65 has been abandoned since 2003.
There was a hearing Tuesday for an order that was issued by the county building inspector on behalf of the town of Battle Ground. That order said the structure needs to be demolished.
A judge affirmed the order, meaning it has to be torn down in 60 days. The owner will have 15 days to get the building boarded up and take care of potential fire hazards.
An attorney representing Battle Ground, Zach Williams, said it’s now a waiting game.
“There are further legal implications, if these things do not occur,” Williams said. “But for now, the town is focused on seeing that this demolition occurs within 60 days pursuant to the building commissioner’s order that was issued.”
Calls to the owner Tuesday afternoon were unsuccessful.
