YWCA ‘Lights Up’ Riehle Plaza for breast cancer awareness

Light Up Riehle Plaza

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The YWCA of Greater Lafayette honored survivors and victims of breast cancer at the third annual Light Up Riehle Plaza.

Formerly the Bridge Lighting, the event kicks off the YWCA’s observation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski and West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis were both on hand, as well as a dancing troop to celebrate.

For the YWCA, the fight against women’s cancer is a year-round process.

“We have a wonderful women’s cancer program so there really is not a woman in this community or the 22 other counties that we serve that should not have a mammogram,” said Debi DeBruyn, YWCA of Greater Lafayette’s executive director. “We have the availability to help almost any woman who’s in need of it.”

The YWCA has several upcoming events for awareness month. You can find that information here.
