LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) — A man was shot early Sunday morning near 10th and North streets in Logansport.
According to Logansport police, a call stating a man had been shot was received about 1:20 a.m. Officers were sent to a house in the 200 block of Wheatland Avenue and found a man who had been shot multiple times.
The victim was identified as 41-year-old Jose Salas.
Police said another call was received at 1:26 a.m. about possible shots fired near 10th and North streets. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call as Logansport police were at the home on Wheatland Avenue.
Salas told police he had been shot near 10th and North streets. Salas said he was in a vehicle in that area and another vehicle pulled up next to him. He said a passenger asked him what he was waiting on when someone in the other vehicle started firing rounds into his car.
Salas was struck 2-3 times, police said.
The other car drove off, and Salas was able to drive himself to the home on Wheatland Avenue and call police.
Salas was taken to Memorial Hospital in Logansport and later flown to another hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
Police said eight empty shell casings were located on 10th Street.
