Empty Lafayette home catches fire; investigation underway

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A recently vacated home caught fire Monday and the cause is still under investigation.

Crews responded to 3440 Equinox Terrace just after 2 p.m. on a report of a house fire.

When Lafayette fire crews arrived, they could see smoke coming from the second-story bedroom window. Crews went in the house and quickly extinguished the fire.

The fire was out within 10 minutes of crews responding.

There was no one inside the home when the fire started. The house was empty.

News 18 was told the home was vacated about one week ago.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
