LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Lafayette Police Department is offering a free lecture to those who want to learn more about internet safety.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Detective Mark Pinkard will give a free lecture about internet safety.

It’s designed for parents and their children to increase protection and awareness of internet crimes and computer use. The plan is to help keep children and young adults safe.

Lafayette Police Sgt. Scott Galloway said things you post on the internet are out there forever.

“When kids put things on the internet or on social media sites, they have real-world consequences,” said Galloway. “So, just because you’re sitting behind a computer anonymously doesn’t mean that somehow that may come back to you or may hurt somebody in another way.”

Internet Cyber Safety will last for an hour and seating is limited to 50 people.
