Driver found in field after crashing car near US 52

Sheriff's deputies investigate a one-vehicle crash just west of US 52 early Tuesday morning.

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – One man was taken to the hospital after he was thrown from his car in an overnight crash near U.S. 52.

Around 3 a.m. Tuesday, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office was called to the intersection of county roads East 450 South and South 450 East. That’s just west of U.S. 52.

Sgt. Brian Lowe said the driver went off the road and was ejected from his car after flipping it. He was then found in a field.

“When we arrived here we found that the driver was ejected from the vehicle, and the vehicle was probably 100 yards away from the driver,” Sgt. Lowe said.

The man has serious injuries but at this point, investigators are unsure if they are life-threatening.

Drugs and alcohol may be a factor in the crash. The sheriff’s office is still investigating.
