WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Kickoff for the Purdue football homecoming game is Saturday, but that didn’t stop students from celebrating a little early.

The Purdue Student Union Board hosted its Homecoming Kickoff event Wednesday afternoon.

The event provided inflatables for the students to play on, face painting, popcorn and cotton candy.

Organizers said it’s a fun way to get the students ready for the big homecoming football game.

“We try to plan events all year long for students,” director of homecoming Melissa Kellner said. “It gets them more interacted in Purdue, try to get them to have more fun. And us planning events for homecoming, we just want students to get more involved with homecoming.”

The Purdue Student Union Board will be hosting a movie on Slayter Hill Thursday. The board’s annual parade starts at 7 p.m. Friday.
