MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) — After being laid off from Regal-Beloit’s Monticello plant, some former workers will be receiving assistance from the federal government.
Gloria Sanson-Swain had worked at the plant for five years, before getting laid off without any notice last month.
Sanson-Swain and two others filed a petition with the U.S. Department of Labor to receive Trade Adjustment Assistance, which aids workers affected by outsourcing. She claims 49 machines will be relocated to a plant in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Just recently, Sanson-Swain learned she and her former co-workers are eligible for the assistance, which will provide workforce training and pay benefits.
News 18 tried reaching out to Regal Beloit for comment but have yet to hear back.
