WLPD: 4 sexual assaults reported in 12-hour time frame


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The West Lafayette Police Department is investigating four reports of sexual assaults or sexual offenses that were all reported within a 12-hour time frame.

The first was reported at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Capt. David VanVactor said it happened in the early morning hours in the 800 block of Hayes Street. He said that case has been passed off to the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office.

The second report came in at 2:30 a.m. Friday. The victim reported the incident happened on the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge, near the fountain in Tapawingo Park.

Police received a third report of sexual assault at 3:10 a.m. Friday in the area of 135 S. Chauncey Ave.

The final call came in around 3:30 a.m. Friday. Officers were sent to the 400 block of Northwestern Avenue for that report.

Investigators do not believe these cases are related. No arrests have been made at this time.
