Man arrested in killing of Lafayette school teacher

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A person has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 52-year-old Kristi Redmon.

Lafayette police say 18-year-old Darius Javon Printup was arrested with murder charges pending.

Printup was arrested and booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail about 4 a.m. Saturday. He is being held without bond until he appears before a judge.

Printup is a resident of Lafayette, according to jail records.

As News 18 has previously reported, police responded to Redmon’s home about 8 p.m. Wednesday after a report of shots fired. She was found dead on the ground outside her Lafayette home on the 1300 block of Ridgeway Avenue.

Redmon was an art teacher for the Lafayette School Corporation.

According to Tippecanoe County Coroner Donna Avolt, Redmon died of gunshot wounds. Redmon’s death has been ruled a homicide.

The case remains under investigation and will be turned over to the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office to review the charges.
