LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Indiana Bicentennial Torch already made its way through Tippecanoe County, but Ivy Tech Community College gave residents a piece of history to keep.

A public dedication was held Monday for the Liberty and Prosperity Bicentennial Torch Sculpture. The sculpture was dedicated to law enforcement and firefighters who protect and defend our community.

Ivy Tech ‘s welding program chair Bryce Eaton said the sculpture represents everything that makes Indiana great. Eaton said he’s happy to show appreciation to the men and women.

“It’s just a small token of our appreciation to dedicate this torch to them,” said Eaton. “We could not give enough to say thank you. This is just a little bit of our appreciation.”

The sculpture is a metal replica of the torch that was passed through the Tippecanoe County last week.
