Homeowner shoots at suspected intruder during home invasion

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Lafayette police are investigating an attempted home invasion suspected on the city’s south side that ended with a shot fired.

They were called around 1:30 p.m. to the 2300 block of Southhaven Blvd. Wednesday afternoon.

Police on the scene tell News 18 the homeowner shot at a suspected intruder. The reported victim told police he was woken up by a man entering his house. He was not expecting visitors and suspected the man was a burglar.

Police said the victim confronted the uninvited man, who fled out the front door. The homeowner told police he shot at the man as he was fleeing in a vehicle.

No injuries were reported and police do not believe the person fleeing was shot.
