Purdue women pleased with chemistry ahead of season

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Leadership, energy and chemistry are just a few words that describe Purdue women’s basketball. With an experienced group returning, coach Sharon Versyp expects an improved team in several key areas.

“I feel we have more athleticism, more defense, more rebounding, more depth,” Versyp said.

Captain Ashley Morrissette is just one Boilermaker who is ready to work for the team’s success.

“Push past our comfort zone this season, that’s the only way to get better,” Morrissette said. “You have to get out of things you used to do. To get what you’ve never had, you have to do what you’ve never done.”

Senior forward Bridget Perry, also a team captain, expressed how she loves the mix of personalities on the court and how the mix positively impacts her teammates.

“Going into my fourth year, this is the best chemistry we’ve ever had as a team – which is really encouraging, and we are really unselfish,” Perry said.

The Boilermaker women kick off their season Nov. 11 at Maine.
