MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) — Blood donations play a vital role in saving the lives of many.

The community of Monticello came together to give blood in honor of young Isaiah Ancil, who is a 3-year-old diagnosed with leukemia last July.

During Isaiah’s treatments, he has received blood transfusions and will need more as his treatment continues.

Isaiah’s father, Sean Ancil, said he’s moved by the efforts of the community.

“Isaiah is not the only one child out there with cancer,” Sean Ancil said. “He’s not the only person. There’s thousands of people out there that need transfusions every single day. It’s incredible seeing a small town come together and help us out. It’s just really awesome.”

The event was held at BJ Wingers. The owner of the restaurant told News 18, 10 percent of Sunday’s sales will be donated to support Isaiah’s fight against leukemia.
