LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Community members showed their support for juveniles in our community Tuesday night at a chili dinner.
A few dozen people attended the third annual event for Jessie’s Kids at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds.
The organization helps fund things like sports or music lessons for children in the juvenile system.
Organizers said without support from the community, their mission wouldn’t be possible.
“The kids that we fund are not the kids that always get a lot of support from the community. So it really helps the kids to see that the community cares and wants them to be successful, so it’s just great. Any turn out we get just really helps the kids,” said Karah Rawlings, Jessie’s Kids executive director.
Organizers said everything for the dinner was donated by local restaurants and businesses. Their goal was to raise nearly $1,000.
