Lafayette crews respond to 2 house fires within 30 minutes

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Firefighters in Lafayette were called to two fires within a 30-minute time period.

Crews responded about 1:15 p.m. to a report of a house fire on East 100 North in Tippecanoe County. Officials say the fire started in the basement.

Buck Creek and Lafayette fire departments responded.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office said no one was home at the time of the fire.

A few minutes after arriving at the home on East 100 North, crews were called to the 1000 block of North Sixth Street for a report of a second fire. That location contained three apartments.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters said everyone was able to get out safely.

The cause of the Sixth Street fire is still under investigation.
