LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — On Wednesday, an after-school program adopted a spooky theme in honor of the upcoming holiday.
The Lafayette Urban Ministries has held its after-school program for 21 years now. The program gives children the opportunity to participate in crafts, recreational sports and educational activities.
LUM executive director Joe Micon said Wednesday’s activities had a Halloween theme for the kids to enjoy. Even though after-school activities are great for children, Micon thinks these programs are just as important for parents.
“It is really important for parents to know that during the after-school time their children are in a safe environment – hopefully in an environment that is academically enriching and academically stimulating, and that it’s all done a reasonable cost,” Micon said.
The program now serves up to 70 children from kindergarten through eighth grade.
