Man airlifted after SUV rolls over on River Road

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A man was airlifted to Indianapolis Wednesday morning after his SUV rolled over on North River Road.

It happened about 3 a.m. near Soldier’s Home Road.

The driver told firefighters he fell asleep at the wheel.

He was taken by ambulance to the Purdue Airport and airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Sgt. Travis Dowell, with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, said the driver suffered a broken leg and his injuries did not appear life-threatening.

North River Road was closed for about two hours while the Wabash Township Fire Department cleaned the area.
