NEWTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A North Newton High School teacher was placed on administrative leave earlier this month after a situation the school is currently investigating.
According to North Newton School Corporation Superintendent Destin Haas, math teacher Kari Smundin was placed on administrative leave Oct. 5. Haas said the school was made aware of the situation that allegedly occurred on Oct. 4 and made the decision to place Smundin on leave before the next school day.
Haas would not go into detail about the situation that allegedly occurred.
The school is continuing to investigate the situation.
UPDATE: Superintendent Destin Haas said Kari Smundin resigned, effective Nov. 1. She is no longer an employee of NNSC. He would not release any other information about what happened on Oct. 4.
