LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A rainy Wednesday put a damper on the opening night of the annual Boo at the Zoo held at the Columbian Park Zoo.

Park officials decided to cancel Wednesday’s event due to wet conditions. A variety of planned activities and live entertainment couldn’t go on in the rain.

Park Superintendent Claudine Laufman said the decision ensured guest safety. She said, hopefully, the next two days will bring “Boo-tiful” weather.

“We’re gearing up already for the next two days,” Laufman said. “We’re very hopeful we will be able to continue on. We’re just really disappointed we weren’t able to have our activity this evening.”

Boo at the Zoo is still scheduled to run Thursday and Friday from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

If you would like to help with the event, the zoo is still looking for volunteers.
