TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A secondary fire station will better serve residents in parts of Tippecanoe County.
The Tippecanoe Township Volunteer Fire Department plans to build an additional station at county roads 650 North and 50 West – north of Harrison High School.
The Board of Zoning Appeals signed off on a special exception Wednesday night.
Fire Chief David Bisher said the township already owns the land.
Bisher said the addition will better serve the western part of the township. He said a lot of the timing has to do with road construction set to take place around the current station in Battle Ground.
“Basically, we’re moving equipment out of our busy station out to a closer location so we can better service that side of the township,” Bisher said.
The plan is to have the station complete in late spring. Bisher said the station in Battle Ground will still serve as the primary station.
