LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Damage from a lightning strike to the Long Center should be repaired by sometime next week.

On Thursday, the Lafayette Redevelopment Commission gave the go ahead for James Scharer Masonry, Inc. to make the repairs.

On Aug. 24, lightning struck the chimney at the North Sixth Street building. Bricks fell from the roof into the middle of the road and hit at least one truck, which had minor damage.

The chimney had to be torn down. The cost to rebuild is about $5,600.
