LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The owner of a class ring found in Colorado said she’s flabbergasted by the effort to get it back to her.

As News 18 previously reported, Colorado Springs police found a 1964 class ring from Central Catholic High School last week. Pictures of the ring were posted to both the police department and Central Catholic’s Facebook pages.

The rings owner, Sandra Chambers, said a friend told her about the post.

Chambers said she had recently had boxes stolen from a storage unit in Colorado. Once she saw the Facebook post, she said she put the pieces together and called police.

“When I heard about the class ring, I knew what it was in the box,” said Chambers. “It just totally amazes me. Why? I’m not sure. It just does.”

She said she’s humbled by the amount of people who shared the post in an effort to find its owner.

“I’m really amazed at all of the people who have taken an interest in it,” added Chambers. “I hadn’t seen it for a while. I hadn’t worn it, and I probably would have missed it when I actually sat down and started to look for it. It’s a memory of high school.”

Chambers moved to Colorado Springs with her husband about 26 years ago.

The ring is still part of the police investigation, but Chambers expects to get it back soon.
