Driver flown to hospital after head-on crash with fuel tanker on US 231 South

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – One person was trapped inside of a car after a head-on crash on U.S. 231 South Monday morning.

The call was dispatched around 7 a.m. Deputies said a driver traveling north on U.S. 231 crossed the center line and was struck by a fuel tanker.

The car’s driver was trapped, and first responders had to use equipment to remove him. The driver was then airlifted to a local hospital.

The tanker was carrying gasoline, but deputies say there was no spill.

The tanker’s driver was not hurt.
