WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)  Less than an hour before Purdue basketball’s lone exhibition of the preseason, coach Matt Painter announced the suspension of sophomore guard Ryan Cline.

“We have suspended Ryan for our first three competitions for a violation of team rules,” Painter said. “We hold our players to a set of standards, and they are expected to conduct themselves accordingly.”

Cline will miss the Boilermaker’s exhibition against Southern Indiana, this weekend’s closed scrimmage with West Virginia and the season opener against McNeese State on Nov. 11.

Cline appeared in all 35 games last year, averaging 3.9 points per game while shooting 38.5 percent from 3-point range.
