Expansion at Boys and Girls Club now complete

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — An expansion is now complete at the Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club of Tippecanoe County on Beck Lane.

New rooms were unveiled Wednesday. The expansion adds 2,500 square feet to the existing building.

The Tippecanoe County chapter has two locations, with each one serving about 100 kids a day.

In order for the expansion to happen, the Exchange Club of Lafayette donated a total of $124,000 toward the project.

“They’re going to use part of it for a study room and part of it for a craft and hobby room,” said Chuck Sherwood, founding chairman of the Exchange Club of Lafayette Foundation. “That will take some pressure off the main building and allow them to do a lot more for the kids.”

This isn’t the first expansion at the Beck Lane location. A gym and game room were added in 2012.
