Cubs Community Block Party to be held in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – There will be a block party in downtown Lafayette to celebrate the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series.

It’s happening Saturday from 4-4:30 p.m. on Main Street between Sixth and Seventh streets.

There will be a parade to honor the Cubbies. Downtown businesses are also joining forces to offer food and drink specials.

Bobby T’s is one of those businesses.

Bartender Zack Baker says the Cubs winning the World Series is not only exciting, it’s good for business.

“It is a big deal. It’s a local team — it’s Chicago. If you look around, we have a couple of Chicago things in here. It definitely brings in a lot of people too,” Baker said. “Everybody’s out enjoying the game, enjoying a couple of drinks. It’s a huge thing for the community.”

Other business participating include:

  • DT Kirby’s
  • Professor Joe’s
  • Spurlock’s
  • Lafayette Brewing Company
  • Kathy’s Kandies
  • Pete’s Diner
  • Halsema Custom Crafts

Bobby T’s will also be accepting donations for a November toy drive. They are looking for new, unwrapped toys to help local families this holiday season.
