LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Some Purdue students got their hands dirty Saturday morning while winterizing homes around the community.
Winterization 2016 is an annual community service project put on by Purdue students. This was the 15th year the crew has helped serve the Greater Lafayette area.
Nearly 1,700 students split up into different groups and helped winterize 350 homes throughout Tippecanoe County. Clearing brush, cleaning gutters and washing windows were among some of the tasks at hand.
“It’s really just a great opportunity for Purdue students to come out here [and] have fun with one another, but also just give back to the community and serve those who need it most,” Winterization crew member Christa Szalach said.
Crew members also accepted donations to help pay for the event in the years to come.
