Crews battle fire at Montgomery Co. Highway Department

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Montgomery County Highway Department will have to replace more than a dozen snow plows after a fire Sunday night.

Montgomery County dispatch said just before 8 p.m. Sunday, they received a call of a structure fire at 818 N. Whitlock Ave. in Crawfordsville.

According to the Crawfordsville Fire Department, 13 or 14 snow plows were in the building at the time of the fire. Officials said the majority of the county’s snow plows were destroyed.

Damage from the fire was estimated at more than $1.5 million, according to the Associated Press.

No injuries were reported.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
