TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The Lafayette Urban Minstry’s immigration clinic has helped more than 100 people locally. On Thursday, the Port of Hope fundraiser will raise money for the program.
“[The immigration clinic] has helped families create these legal pathways for these people [immigrants] to become members of our community,” said the immigration clinic’s volunteer legal advisor Joy Grow. “It’s very important because these are people who are going to make this area their home, work here and make their families here.”
The Port of Hope fundraiser will be held at Sylvia’s Brick Oven on Columbia Street.
“We’ll have several different restaurants in the area to bring us some great food,” said Amie Millikin, a member of the Port of Hope’s fundraising committee. “We’ll have a lot of entertainment. Clave Caribe will be there to give us some live music.”
Tickets are $30 per individual or $50 per couple. You can buy tickets online or at the door.
