TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — With New Community School closing, the Tippecanoe School Corporation is preparing to take in new students.
New Community School will close Dec. 31. Because of declining enrollment, the school’s charter sponsor, Ball State University, has determined it cannot afford to stay open.
TSC Superintendent Scott Hanback said more than 30 K-8 students live in the district and could choose to enroll in the TSC. He said the corporation is prepared to make the transition as easy as possible for those students.
“Our principals and our teachers stand ready to assist those families and answer any questions they might have, walk them through the enrollment process; because for some of them, it might be their first time in a traditional public school,” Hanback said.
TSC representatives will attend a school fair Thursday at New Community School. The school fair is designed to help provide students and parents with information about all options available.
