Get help applying for FAFSA at College Goal Sunday

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – One of the most stressful things about college for many people is the cost. But with even a large amount of financial aid available, it can be tough to navigate through all of it.

Indiana offers a free program called College Goal Sunday every year for future college students and their families. There’s 42 different sites statewide; that includes events in Lafayette, Logansport and Kokomo.

David Reseigh, with Purdue University’s division of financial aid, stopped by News 18 This Morning to discuss College Goal Sunday.

“College Goal Sunday is an event where families who have students who plan on attending college next fall can get help filing the free application for federal student aid for the 2017-18 academic year,” said Reseigh. “We’ll have staff from both Purdue and Ivy Tech on hand to help families through this process.”

Filing is now done online, and families will need to bring tax returns and W-2 Forms from the 2015 year, as well as current investment and bank records.

College Goal Sunday is not exclusive to high school students. Anyone who plans on attending college for the 2017-18 academic year is eligible.

College Goal Sunday will be held Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at all 42 sites. In Lafayette, it will be held at Ivy Tech Community College’s Ivy Hall on South Creasy Lane.
