LEBANON, Ind. (WLFI) — A sergeant with the Lebanon Police Department is off work after shooting himself in the foot Wednesday night.

The incident occurred as Sgt. Ted Boling was attempting to clean his department-issued handgun after a training exercise, police said. The gun fired as he prepared to disassemble the weapon.

A bullet struck Bolin in the right foot.

He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by ambulance.

Bolin is expected to be OK. He will miss work as he recovers, the department said.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
