EDINBURGH, Ind. (AP) — Vice President-elect Mike Pence plans to mark Veterans Day by speaking during a ceremony at an Indiana National Guard training base.
The Indiana governor’s office says Pence will take part in the Friday afternoon event at Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh.
The ceremony comes a day after several hundred people cheered Pence during a rally at Indianapolis International Airport when he returned to Indiana for the first time since Tuesday’s election.
Pence told the crowd he was humbled to be Donald Trump’s vice president. And he choked up when he said that his heart will always be in the state no matter where his new duties take him.
Pence met earlier Thursday with Vice President Joe Biden at the White House.
