Veterans honored at the Indiana Veterans’ Home

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The public paid tribute at the Indiana Veterans’ Home earlier Friday afternoon, where hundreds of veterans and community members gathered.

Guest speaker, retired Chief Master Sgt. Dr. Sandra Dye, spoke on the topic of “Every Generation, Gifts of their Insights.”

Several local leaders were in attendance including U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita, West Lafayette Police Chief Jason Dombkowski, Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski and West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis.

The Central Catholic High School band served as guest performers, playing the national anthem and “God Bless America.”

“This is an opportunity for us to celebrate the men and women we serve every day, and we put all our heart into it so we’re very excited,” said Felicia Dale, special projects coordinator with the Indiana Veterans’ Home.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, a sunset salute will be hosted in the Veterans’ Home cemetery. The public is welcome to attend.
