WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Purdue students started lining up outside Mackey Arena on Sunday night for Monday’s game against Villanova.

The game against the defending national champions was sold out by Monday morning.

Students News 18 spoke with said with the excitement this early on in the season, they’re ready to see what this year’s team is all about.

“The No. 4 team coming into town now is great,” Purdue student Daniel Grimm said. “The atmosphere is going to be electric. I’m sure we’ll barely be able to hear the whistle at some points. I know the student section will be really riled up. Students started to line up last night so it’s going to be an awesome atmosphere.”

“It’s not every day that the No. 4 team in the country comes to play at Mackey Arena and everyone knows how Mackey Arena gets really rautious,” Purdue student Chris Youngbrandt said. “It’s one of the most dangerous places in the country. We’re just really excited for the Villanova Wildcats to come here and lose to our Boilers.”

Senior Associate Athletics Director Tom Schott said that men’s basketball ticket sales are already ahead of last year’s sales.
