WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — For the second time this calendar year, a bus carrying Purdue club students caught fire on the road.

Assistant Director of club sports at Purdue, Kelsey Edge, said a bus transporting 48 students in the Purdue Running Club caught fire in Ohio, east of Columbus. She said the bus was provided by Lafayette Limo.

Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatch said it happened around 3 p.m. Sunday and no one was hurt.

The club was heading back from the National Cross Country Championships in Hershey, Pennsylvania, when a tire blew out.

Lafayette Limo said the driver got out to check the tire and discovered the fire. The company provided another bus for the students to travel back home.

The same thing happened to Purdue Ski Club students in January. The students were headed to a ski trip when their bus caught fire in Kansas.
