Fire at Prophets Rock Road home under investigation

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Investigators are looking into what caused a fire at a vacant house in northern Tippecanoe County.

Emergency crews were called to a structure fire at 5428 Prophets Rock Road around 7:30 a.m.

Flames were seen coming from the first floor, and drivers along nearby Interstate 65 could see the fire.

It took crews about an hour to put the fire out. No injuries were reported.

News 18 was told no one has lived in the house since September.

About 30 minutes after the initial call, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office sent out an alert notifying the public that Prophets Rock Road was closed between Burnetts Road and County Road 600 North. The roadway has since reopened.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
