TAMA, Iowa (AP) — Iowa authorities say an Indiana man has been fraudulently overcharging for home repairs and has been arrested.
The Tama County Sheriff’s office says the 21-year-old from Bargersville, Indiana, was arrested Saturday.
Investigators believe the man defrauded an elderly Tama County resident out of more than $50,000 this fall.
The man claimed to be associated with a real construction firm that’s based in Indianapolis, but authorities say he isn’t involved with that business.
The sheriff’s office said there may be additional victims of the scam in the area.
The suspect is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
