LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) – A Cass County manufacturer plans to add more jobs to its workforce. Logansport-based manufacturer Small Parts will fill an additional 40 advanced manufacturing positions.

Earlier this week, company officials met with the Logansport City Council Finance Committee to discuss plans for a $7 million investment in new equipment. The company also requested a five-year tax abatement.

If the abatement is approved, the hiring process will begin with jobs averaging $17 an hour.

Mayor Dave Kitchell said he’s happy to see a local company working to bring more jobs to the community.

“Small Parts is a good corporate citizen in Logansport,” said Kitchell. “They pay their taxes. They’re not an environmental problem. They’re not a noise or pollution problem; and they support the charitable causes so you can’t really ask anymore from a company than what Small Parts is providing.”

Kitchell anticipates a decision will be made on the abatement request within the next couple of weeks.
