Woman injured in Crawfordsville house fire

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) — A 40-year-old Crawfordsville woman was hospitalized after a house fire Saturday evening.

Just before 7 p.m., crews were called to a reported fire at 511 Whitlock Ave. When the Crawfordsville Fire Department arrived, firefighters entered the home to rescue Rebecca Coonse.

Police said Coonse was taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health Crawfordsville and later transported to an Indianapolis hospital. As of Sunday afternoon, Coonse was listed in critical condition.

Crawfordsville Assistant Fire Chief Jim Fulwider said the majority of the fire damage was in the front room of the home, where officials believe the fire started.

The cause remains under investigation by the Crawfordsville Police Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
