Coroner releases names, cause of death in Flora fatal house fire

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the four children killed in an early Monday morning house fire in Flora.

Investigators said 7-year-old Kerriele McDonald, 5-year-old Kionnie Welch, 9-year-old Keyara Phillips and 11-year-old Keyanna Davis were inside the home when the fire started.

According to the Carroll County coroner, all four girls died from smoke inhalation. The preliminary manner of death is accidental.

Authorities said their mother was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for smoke inhalation and possible additional injuries. There’s no word on her current condition.

The fire was called in around 3:30 a.m. at 103 E. Columbia St. It’s still under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Two law enforcement officers were also injured.
