WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Good news for drivers in West Lafayette – River Road is now open to all traffic.
That includes the intersection of South River Road and U.S. 231 and the roundabout at South River Road, Tapawingo Drive and Williams Street.
It’s all part of the combined sewer overflow project.
News 18 caught up with West Lafayette Police Sgt. Jason Philhower, who was out patrolling the roundabout Tuesday afternoon. He said he noticed a few drivers approaching it quickly. But for the most part, drivers have been slowing down.
“This is going to be a learning experience, realizing that there are two lanes that go completely through the roundabout,” Philhower said. “Just take your time, be sure to stay in your own lane going through the roundabout is the biggest thing.”
Philhower said police have noticed with the tight turn of the roundabout, some semitrailers have been crossing over into both lanes. He said drivers should be cautious of that.
