WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The West Lafayette Community School Corporation has been recognized as the best school district in the state by a website that helps people find places to live and go to school.
The results on Niche.com are based on statistics and reviews from the U.S. Department of Education. That includes test scores, graduation rates and teacher quality.
Superintendent Rocky Killion said the corporation received the award last year from Business Insider. He said community support, including the passing of a referendum in 2010, has strengthened the corporation.
“We can continue to offer a well-balanced education system that includes advanced academics, arts, music, lower class sizes,” Killion said. “And I think all of those are a combination that allows Niche.com to provide us that kind of a rating.”
Also happening at WLCSC, the school board voted to move forward with the bidding process for the Burtsfield Gym renovations. Those renovations call for a new elementary school at that location.
