TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Three people were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash caused by a wrong-way driver on State Road 25 early Thursday morning.

According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, around 12:15 a.m., Grant Cottingham of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was driving south bound in the northbound lanes of SR 25 – also known as the Hoosier Heartland Highway – when he collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Robert Ashbaugh of Logansport.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be removed by the Buck Creek Fire Department.

Cottingham and Ashbaugh were taken to Indianapolis-area hospitals. William Cottingham, a passenger in Grant Cottingham’s car, was taken to a Lafayette hospital.
